Transforming the viewing experience worldwide, Espial today
announced it has signed an agreement with NOS to provide agile and
DevOps engineering and delivery services. This engagement empowers
NOS to implement continuous innovation approach so they can stay
tip of market and more effectively monetize their video services at
web speed with DevOps development practices.
NOS, Portugal’s primary cable operator with over 1.6 million
television clients, launched their service UMA TV in 2016. They
have embraced DevOps development methodology to introduce new
features and quality improvements continuously to their end
subscribers. RDK was created to accelerate the deployment of
next-generation video, applications and use experiences with shared
source device level software. It also provides a foundation for
sustained innovation so operators can match the relentless pace of
innovation.
With Espial, NOS benefits from their first mover experience in
bringing a new DevOps supplier-operator model to market. In this
model, Espial worked collaboratively with NOS to implement
collaborative processes that balance risk and cost management
between the companies. As part of this, Espial uses a rigorous
methodology with open processes and shared tools used to ensure
operational transparency and ensure close ties to fully empower
development teams between the companies. Espial and NOS are using
these new DevOps approaches to deliver new features and
improvements on a fast cadence.
“The ability to react quickly to consumer needs and changing
market dynamics is very important to NOS. Our goal is to be more
agile and rapidly introduce new revenue generating services,
improve customer satisfaction, and to grow our advanceTV subscriber
base,” said Pedro Bandeira, Director Product Development, NOS.
“We are honoured to have NOS select Espial as their trusted
partner to help them with the continued evolution of their UMA
video service,” noted Jaison Dolvane, CEO, Espial. “NOS has
demonstrated that they are willing to lead and innovate, and we’re
excited to be part of this.”
