The Five Arrows Chile Investment Trust Limited (In Liquidation)("the Company")
               Net Asset Value as at 30th September, 2001

The joint liquidators of the Company, Jeremy Spratt and Stephen Treharne of
KPMG announce that the estimated residual net asset value per Ordinary share
as at the close of business on Friday 28 September 2001 was approximately
US$0.23 (31 August 2001 US$0.22) The increase is attributable principally to
the release of tax provisions following the submission of the corporation tax
return for the post liquidation period to 26 April 2001.

The only substantive issue outstanding in the liquidation is the agreement of
the Company's corporation tax liabilities for post liquidation periods. The
liquidators have requested the Inland Revenuers confirmation that the Company
qualified as an investment trust for tax purposes for the period to 26 April
2001 and will be in a position to make a further distribution to shareholders
shortly after such confirmation is received. The Company's assets now consist
entirely of US$ Treasury bills and cash deposits.

The liquidators intend to make their next net asset value announcement on
Monday 5 November 2001 by reference to the residual net asset value of the
Company as at Wednesday 31 October 2001.

* The first interim liquidation distribution to shareholders of US$ 0.70 per
share was paid on 26 June 2000.

* A second interim liquidation distribution to shareholders of US$ 0.50 per
share was paid on 15 August 2000

* A third interim liquidation distribution to shareholders of US$ 1.15 per
share was paid on 18th December 2000.
