Proventec plc
("Proventec" or "the Company")
HCAI Healthcare Technology Award
Proventec plc (AIM: PROV, Alternext: ALPTC), a provider of specialist steam
cleaning and coatings technologies, is pleased to announce the Company's
OspreyDeepclean division has won the HCAI (Healthcare Associated Infections)
award from the Department of Health (DH) and NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency
for the new and novel technology with the greatest contribution to enhancing the
cleanliness of the hospital environment. This is the first time the DH has
publically recognised the contribution Proventec's technology is making to
advance healthcare environment hygiene standards and contribution to the
protection of patients from healthcare associated infections.
David Chestnutt, Chief Executive of Proventec commented: "We are extremely proud
to have been recognised by the DH and this award further positions Proventec
Healthcare as a leader in hospital cleaning technologies. We have already seen
a significant increase in enquires from UK and other international hospitals and
we are actively engaged in discussion with healthcare stakeholders for the rapid
deployment of the OspreyDeepclean Healthcare system."
Proventec's unique dry steam cleaning technology and specialist tooling can be
used to clean and make safe all hospital surfaces in the patient environment.
OspreyDeepclean Dry Steam Vapour effectively removes contamination from hospital
surfaces including MRSA and Clostridium difficile. Innovative technologies, such
as those developed by Proventec will be fundamental in helping the NHS achieve
its goals of improving hospital cleanliness, more quickly. The successful design
is the result of two years of product development and performance validation
conducted by TNO laboratories, based in the Netherlands, and within UK NHS
Hospital environments.
Reducing hospital infections is one of the top NHS priorities1, and a
significant sum is being invested nationwide to improve standards of care though
an integrated approach to infection prevention and control. Both in clinical
practice and through the clean, safe hospitals HCAI Technology programme. The
programme was developed to speed up the development and adoption of technologies
to help further combat HCAIs, particularly MRSA and Clostridium difficile. It
aims to identify which new technologies provide the best value and which will
have the most impact.
The HCAI Technology Innovations awards were launched for the first time this
year to highlight and celebrate innovation and success in technology and
technological developments related to the prevention of hospital infections.
