Regulatory News:
Alfa Laval (STO:ALFA)– a world leader in heat transfer,
centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has won its first order
for a completely new and very robust compact heat exchanger for
gas-fuel conditioning from the Korean shipbuilder Daewoo
Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). The order, booked in
the Marine & Diesel Equipment Segment, has a value of
approximately SEK 24 million and deliveries will start already this
year and are expected to be completed in 2016.
The innovative compact Alfa Laval heat exchanger, a new addition
to the marine portfolio for alternative fuels, can handle
temperatures and pressures far beyond other welded plate heat
exchangers. In this case, they will have a dual functionality since
they will be installed onboard six LNG carriers to be built by
DSME. There, they will re-liquefy the boil off gas from the tanks
and simultaneously condition the fuel gas for the engine. The new
Alfa Laval heat exchangers are also very well suited for other
gas-driven vessel types, such as tankers, container ships etc.
“This order proves that Alfa Laval is a company that quickly
reacts to changing customer demands by continuously adding new and
innovative products to its offering,” says Lars Renstrm, President
and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. “To the marine industry, we can
now offer solutions to handle alternative fuels, such as liquefied
natural gas, on top of our offering for diesel-driven vessels.
Did you know that.... for Alfa Laval, the value opportunity per
ship is the same - no matter the fuel used?
