Ecology and Environment, Inc. (AMEX:EEI) has been awarded a
multi-year regional contract to provide the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) with technical support for the assessment
and cleanup of the release into the environment of oil, petroleum
and hazardous substances that pose a threat to the public in EPA's
Region 9. The contract has a 2 year base period and 2 one and
one-half year option periods. With all option years and access to
an increased capacity pool to support the Agency in the event of an
incident of national significance, the contract could total $64
million over 5 years. Details -- The contract dubbed "Start 9" for
Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team covers the four
state area of California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii and U.S.
territories in the Pacific. The scope includes services for
emergency response including elements of counter terrorism and
spills of oil and chemical substances, domestic preparedness and
prevention activities, site assessments and generally any support
activity to prevent pollution or contaminant exposure to human
health and welfare or to the environment. The contract will be
serviced from the company's offices in San Francisco, CA, Oakland,
CA, Long Beach, CA and Buffalo, NY headquarters. Ecology and
