The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 gained 0.2% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 97.55.

In commodities, Brent crude climbed 1.1% to $83.76 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 1.1% to $78.75 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 2 basis points to 2.417% from 2.436%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.276% from 4.265%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.5%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.3%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.3%.
