CompuDyne Corporation (NASDAQ:CDCY), an industry leader in
sophisticated security products, integration, and technology for
the public security markets, announced today that CompuDynes
public safety and justice unit, Tiburon, Inc. of Pleasanton, CA,
completed the installation of a new fully distributed, statewide
Computer Aided Dispatch system with integrated mapping for the
Nebraska State Patrol. Tiburon is an industry-leading provider of
automated public safety and justice systems to meet the demanding
and complex needs of law enforcement, fire, rescue, corrections,
and justice environments. The new CAD system operates on fully
distributed Microsoft Windows workstations and provides
server-independent processing of all critical CAD functions for a
reliable configuration with virtually 100% system availability.
Tiburons unique disaster-tolerant configuration networks separate
CAD systems located in six emergency dispatch communication centers
throughout the state. The six communications centers, located in
the cities of Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island, Norfolk, North Platte,
and Scottsbluff which operate in two time zones, will be able to
share incident and unit information and provide backup
capabilities. In the event that a communication center becomes
inoperable, another center can resume full operation with accurate,
up-to-the-minute information. This is a first for the Nebraska
State Patrol," states Captain Russell Stanczyk. "With the Tiburon
CAD system we are better able to track and manage emergency calls,
increase trooper safety, and provide improved accountability to our
citizens. Moving from a completely manual dispatch operation, the
new CAD system will provide the State Patrol the ability to
consolidate the workflow of dispatch activities between the
communication centers, better document calls for service, and,
ultimately provide a quicker response to the public. Each dispatch
position is equipped with a dynamic map that displays the location
of calls for service and units, and helps communication center
personnel manage calls. Tiburon has successfully deployed this
distributed, peer-to-peer system architecture in more than 40 city,
county, and statewide public safety communication centers across
the county to ensure that such mission critical systems remain
operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Certain statements
