they have entered into an agreement to sell their oil and gas
assets located in the Deep Basin area of western Alberta and British
Columbia, Canada, for $374
million. According to the Company, the effective date of
transaction is January 1, 2014, and
the Company expects to close the transaction on or about
April 30, 2014, subject to customary
post-closing adjustments. The Company plans to use the proceeds of
the transaction to buy back shares under the 30 million share
repurchase program announced in December

On March 25, 2014, Baker Hughes
Incorporated (Baker Hughes) - supplier of oilfield services,
products, technology and systems - announced that the Company has
signed an exclusive agreement with CGG, which is a Geoscience
company, to acquire its RoqSCAN™ technology. According to the
Company, RoqSCAN is a real-time, fully portable, quantitative and
automated rock properties and mineralogical analyzer developed by
Robertson, a CGG company, and Carl Zeiss Microscopy Ltd. Further,
RoqSCAN can deliver highly quantitative compositional and textural
mineralogical data from drilling cuttings or core pieces, revealing
the mineralogical DNA of the reservoir. Baker Hughes plans to use
the RoqSCAN technology in its shale reservoir evaluation services
as part of the Shale Science Alliance with CGG. According to Baker
Hughes, the new agreement will boost the strategic relationship
between the two Companies, which will help operators in
understanding the shale plays in a better way and predict "sweet
spots" based on the combination of seismic attributes and accurate
