Company Receives Highly Sought-After Award for
Cutting-Edge Technology Expected to Further Transform the
Industry
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today
announced the Océ VarioPrint i300 sheet-fed color inkjet press has
received the prestigious 2015 InterTech Technology Award from the
Printing Industries of America. The recognized Océ VarioPrint i300
model is the first-of-its-kind digital high-speed, sheetfed inkjet
press designed to help accelerate the printing industry's
transition from offset to high-volume digital output.
“It is a true honor for Canon to be recognized for our
innovative technology by the Printing Industries of America,” said
Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager,
Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. Inc. “This award
emphasizes our commitment to offer solutions that help empower
print providers to grow and to deliver new services to their
customers.”
“The judges recognized the Océ VarioPrint i300 will have a
significant impact on its industry segment, opening up inkjet into
the sheet-fed market,” noted Mark Bohan, Printing Industries of
America. “The press’s ability to control sheets and maintain print
quality at such fast speed was impressive.”
Combining the reduced costs of inkjet with the media and
application flexibility of sheet-fed production, the Océ VarioPrint
i300 helps print providers to cost-effectively run monochrome and
color jobs on one engine, move mono applications to higher value,
higher margin color products and extend the cross over point for
digital print versus offset, helping migrate more pages to digital
print.
The Océ VarioPrint i300 will offer integrated end-to-end digital
workflows built atop the PRISMAsync digital front end and PRISMA
software platform, along with robust feeding and output
capabilities, managed by full process quality controls for overall
increased productivity.
Since 1978, the InterTech Technology Awards have annually
showcased important and emerging technologies that are likely to
have a significant impact on the graphic arts and related
industries. An independent panel of judges selected the Océ
VarioPrint i300 as one of 10 technologies that were deemed truly
innovative and are expected to advance the performance of the
industry.
First previewed at the Print 13 show, the Océ VarioPrint i300
color press combines a flexible architecture and Océ iQuarius
inkjet technologies with proven technology assets to redefine the
cost, productivity and throughput equation. The Océ VarioPrint i300
prints up to 294 (letter) images-per-minute. It handles paper
format sizes up to 13.9 inch x 19.7 inch (B3) and targets heavy
production volumes of 1‐10 million pages per month. The reliable
high speed and quality inkjet production is powered by Océ iQuarius
technologies, including iQuarius CMYK Inks, Sheet Entry Control,
Precision Sheet Control, In-Line Quality Inspection and the
iQuarius Drying System.
