CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
AT&T1 upgraded its wireless network within
North Carolina with nearly 1,500
enhancements during 2016. The completed improvements include adding
greater capacity and speeds to cell towers across the state.
"In a digital society and economy, the ability for people to
capitalize on the benefits of new technology is proportionate to
their ability to connect to a fast and reliable wireless network,"
said Brooks Raiford, President and
CEO of the North Carolina Technology Association. "Continued
upgrades to the wireless network helps drive our reputation as a
technology hub and helps drive continued economic growth."
"Our North Carolina employees are focused on bringing a better
mobile experience across the state. Our investment in the local
wireless network is one way we're accomplishing that," said
Venessa Harrison, state president,
AT&T North Carolina.
We're seeing increased data usage across our mobile network,
especially at big events. In fact, data on our mobile network has
increased about 250,000% since 2007, and the majority of that
traffic is video.
These upgrades include adding capacity to hundreds of wireless
cell sites, which increases data speeds for people accessing
them.
Our 4G LTE network is essential to laying the foundation for our
5G Evolution. We are increasing network speeds and capacity, as we
continue to densify our wireless network through the deployment of
small cells and the use of advanced network technologies like
carrier aggregation.
We constantly invest in our network to give customers the
high-quality services they need to stay connected. This helps
customers get the best possible experience over the AT&T
network, whether at home, at work or on the go.
