LONDON--WPP PLC, the world's biggest advertising firm, has named
Roberto Quarta as its next chairman.
"Roberto brings to WPP extensive, diverse experience in
corporate governance and global commerce," said outgoing Chairman
Philip Lader.
"This completes our refreshment of the board, which over the
last three years has seen the appointment of 10 internationally
recognized business leaders from four continents and the phased
retirement of long-serving directors," he added.
Mr. Quarta is currently chairman of Smith & Nephew, a FTSE
100 medical technology company, and of IMI PLC, a smaller
engineering business. He will replace Mr. Lader at June's
shareholder meeting, provided a successor at IMI has been found,
WPP said.
