Dominion Energy Virginia on Monday said it was expanding its
assistance to customers being impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and
is seeking to extend its "no disconnection " policy for an
additional four months.
As of June 15, Dominion Energy Virginia will expand its
long-term payment plans and "offer customers up to 12 months to pay
past due amounts, with no minimum down payment required."
The company also said it was expanding benefits made available
through EnergyShare, its "year-round assistance program for
individuals and families facing financial hardship." As of June 1,
the maximum benefit is increased to $1,200 for this year, up from
$900. Also, "customers under the age of 60 are now eligible to
receive funds without a disconnect notice, similar to customers 60
and over," the company said.
Dominion Energy Virginia said it plans to start a temporary
program to help its small business customers, and will provide
further details as they become available.
The company also said it is asking Virginia's State Corporation
Commission to allow for a four-month extension of its "no
disconnection" plan, through October 14.
Dominion Energy provides energy to more than 7 million customers
in 20 states.
