NEW YORK, October 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Nasdaq, Innovation Endeavors and Team8 hosted their second
annual cybersecurity thought leadership event, Rethink
Cyber, in New York at the
Nasdaq MarketSite yesterday as part of Cybersecurity Awareness
Month. The exclusive event presented eight prominent enterprise
security and strategy leaders, each of whom had eight minutes to
challenge current cybersecurity paradigms and explore new, powerful
directions for trends and innovation.
Rethink Cyber, now running in four cities worldwide,
gathers prominent CIOs, CISOs, cyber innovators, policymakers and
security officials to explore the rapidly evolving arena of cyber
technology. The synergy between Nasdaq, a leading trading provider
for today's global capital markets, Eric
Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors, an early stage venture
capital firm with offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv, and Team8, Israel's leading
cybersecurity foundry and think tank, was created to leverage
multidisciplinary backgrounds and expertise, and provide a
thought-provoking platform to challenge widely held assumptions
about cybersecurity.
The lineup of speakers for Rethink Cyber NYC included
Patrick Heim, Head of Trust &
Security, Dropbox; Bob Blakely,
Global Head of Information Security Innovation, Citigroup;
Omar Abbosh, Chief Strategy Officer,
Accenture; Bret Hartman, VP &
CTO, Security Business Group, Cisco Systems; Shlomo Touboul, CEO, illusive networks;
Shachar Levy, Founder & CEO,
Team8 Consulting and David Baker,
Chief Security Officer, Okta.
"Team8 was founded out of a need to cope with some of the
biggest challenges we face in cybersecurity today," said
Nadav Zafrir, former Commander of
the Israel Defense Force (IDF) Unit 8200 (Israel's NSA) and
Co-Founder and CEO of Team8. "We are very fortunate to have
investors like Cisco and Accenture, who support our unique thinking
process and we are honored to have partners like Nasdaq and
Innovation Endeavors, who believed in the logical progression to
create this special event and give back to the cybersecurity
industry."
Yuval Shachar, Partner,
Innovation Endeavors said, "Rethink Cyber presents a unique
opportunity to not only hear from the top innovators at the
forefront of cyber innovation, but also to stay close to the key
challenges industry leaders are facing. It is important to bring
together the top minds on both sides of the equation in order to
come up with radical solutions to the big problems in cyber. This
event is the perfect forum to get a fresh perspective and drive
innovation forward."
Omar Abbosh, Chief Strategy
Officer of Accenture said, "Andy
Grove's famous slogan 'only the paranoid survive' is a
timeless reminder about the need to constantly adapt to the
changing business environment. As businesses evolve in the
digital era they need to take a hard look at where they are in
terms of cybersecurity, where they need to be and their
ability to rise to the occasion when facing new types of
threats."
Patrick Heim, Head of Trust and
Security at Dropbox said, "We are living in an unprecedented time
of cyber innovation. Over 1600 security companies are tackling a
wide variety of cyber problems. Unfortunately, this also creates
confusion on the part of buyers. It's very important for
organizations to reflect on what innovations are truly risk
appropriate and invest in only those areas that make sense."
