CBL Properties (NYSE:CBL) today marked the completion of the
Sears redevelopment at Brookfield Square in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
with a ribbon cutting and VIP event. Construction on the
approximately 120,000-square-foot project, which included razing
the entire Sears building, began in April 2018 and delivered
new-to-market dining, entertainment, and other uses to the
property.
“We are thrilled to introduce WhirlyBall and Movie Tavern by
Marcus to Wisconsin at Brookfield Square,” said Michael Lebovitz,
president, CBL Properties. “These dynamic uses are part of CBL’s
strategy to transition our properties from traditional malls to
suburban town centers.”
Lebovitz added, “These entertainment venues, coupled with
additional dining options, retail, medical office and fitness, as
well as the City of Brookfield’s future hotel and conference
center, further solidify Brookfield Square as a destination in the
market.”
CBL proactively purchased the Sears building at Brookfield
Square with a portfolio of four other Sears buildings and two Sears
Auto Centers in January 2017. Redevelopments of the Sears Auto
Centers at Northgate Mall in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Volusia
Mall in Dayton Beach, Florida, were completed in early 2019 and
delivered new-to-market dining options to each property. A
redevelopment of a former Sears building at Hamilton Place is
currently under construction with a planned opening in spring 2020.
Redevelopments on the remaining three Sears locations are in
various stages of planning, and announcements will be made as plans
are finalized.
