Loews Hotels & Resorts has named Kirk Kinsell as its new
chief executive, poaching a top executive from its larger rival
InterContinental Hotels Group.
Mr. Kinsell, currently president of the Americas for
InterContinental and a 35-year industry veteran, will replace CEO
Paul Whetsell, effective March 2, 2015. Mr. Whetsell will then
become vice chairman, according to a Loews official.
"Kirk's broad experience in development, sales and brand
operations makes him an ideal choice to lead Loews Hotels forward
in our next phase of growth and operational excellence," Jonathan
Tisch, Chairman of Loews Hotels & Resorts and Co-Chairman of
Loews Corp., said in a statement.
New York-based Loews Hotels & Resorts owns or operates 23
hotels and resorts in the U.S. and Canada. It is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Loews Corp.
