SAP America Appoints Tom Byrne as National Vice President for State and Local Sales WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SAP Public Services, Inc. today announced the appointment of Tom Byrne as national vice president for state and local sales, marketing and partnership initiatives. In this new position, Byrne will build on SAP's momentum in the state and local market and support SAP's K-12 and higher education sales network. Byrne will report to Steve Peck, president of SAP Public Services, Inc. "Tom's extensive public sector experience and domain expertise will support SAP's commitment to market leadership," said Peck. Byrne, 49, brings 28 years of sales and management experience in the information technology industry. Before joining SAP, he worked at AMS for 20 years, most recently as vice president of state and local government sales. He led the development and marketing strategy for the company's Web-based product. He also spearheaded a key company acquisition and directed a significant increase in the company's customer roster in the education and government markets. Previously, Byrne served in sales positions with Information Sciences, Inc., Lupfer & Long, Inc., Computer Sciences Corporation and Burroughs Corporation. Byrne earned a BS in marketing from the University of Maryland.
