News Brief: Erie County Leverages SAP Solutions to Improve Service
Delivery and Optimize Business Operations BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 1
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SAP Public Services, Inc. today announced
that Erie County, one of New York State's largest county
governments, has successfully replaced its existing legacy systems
with integrated solutions from SAP for human resources, financials
and grants management. Erie County is also expanding its SAP
footprint with the selection of mySAP(TM) Customer Relationship
Management (mySAP CRM) and SAP(R) Enterprise Portal solutions to
manage first responder resources, unify call centers and streamline
case management for human services. Additionally, Erie County plans
to use SAP solutions to automate plant management functions for
multiple county departments. The entire SAP implementation is part
of an ongoing strategy to reshape how the county manages vital
assets and will enable 8,400 county employees to improve delivery
of citizen services. -- First Responder Tracking & Training --
Erie County is developing regional capability for alerting,
incident management, first responder resource management, stockpile
controls, emergency call center, and emergency equipment inventory
and deployment with mySAP CRM. -- Centralized Call Center and Case
Management for Human Services -- Erie County plans to leverage
mySAP CRM to create centralized regional call center and case
management capabilities to assess eligibility, calculate benefits,
track interactions with clients and manage involvement in
social-service programs to ensure that citizen inquiries are
resolved quickly and efficiently. -- Automated Plant Management --
The plant management function will automate work orders, and will
aid in managing assets and inventories, process inspections,
warehouse controls, resource scheduling, and preventive maintenance
across various departments, including sewer, fleet, parks and
public works. "The services-oriented architecture SAP provides will
enable the County to create a heightened level of regional
collaboration," said Joel Giambra, Erie County Executive. "SAP is
the diamond of our IT infrastructure that we plan to leverage as a
strategic tool that will not only enhance Erie County's technology,
but also to provide a framework for closer collaboration and data
sharing across local cities, towns and villages." Any statements
