Italy's antitrust authority said Wednesday that it has launched
an investigation into Samsung Electronics Co. for alleged
misleading and aggressive commercial practices.
The regulator said it is looking into offers that allow
customers to buy new mobile phones while selling their used
devices, alleging that a lack of adequate information in terms of
the selling process was being provided.
The U.K.'s Opia Ltd and Italy's World Business Srl are also
being investigated, the authority said. Officials searched the
offices of all the companies involved in the investigation on
Tuesday.
Samsung said the company is cooperating with the watchdog and
reiterated its utmost commitment and care for consumers.
