   ARCO DECLARES REGULAR QUARTERLY DIVIDEND ON THREE CLASSES OF STOCK
 
Los Angeles, October 27 - ARCO's Board of Directors (NYSE: ARC) today declared
regular quarterly dividends on three classes of the company's stock.

A dividend of US 71.25 cents a share was declared on Common Stock payable
December 15 to stockholders of record November 14.

A dividend of 75 cents a share was declared on $3 Cumulative Convertible
Preference Stock payable December 19 to stockholders of record November 14.

A dividend of 70 cents a share was declared on $2.80 Cumulative Convertible
Preference Stock payable December 19 to stockholders of record November 14.
