BRITISH SMALLER TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES VCT PLC

DIRECTORS' DEALINGS

The Company announces that on 24 May 2004 each of the directors of the Company
acquired 3,000 shares in the Company at a price of 30p. This purchase follows
the Board's recent trading statement made at the recent AGM in which an increase
in Net Asset Value of the portfolio was reported, and in which the Chairman gave
a cautiously positive assessment of the outlook for realisations from the
portfolio.

Their consequent holdings, in number of shares and expressed as a percentage of
the issued share capital, are as follows:
