Charlton Athletic Plc ("Charlton") - proposed issue of new
shares


Charlton announces that it intends to issue New Shares to
raise approximately #3.5 million. These funds will be used
for additional working capital for the Group, in particular
to give Alan Curbishley, the Football Club Manager the funds
required to finance the purchase of additional playing staff
for the Football Club.

Permission will be sought from shareholders at the Annual
General Meeting ("AGM") to approve the resolutions to give
the Board the necessary authority to issue and allot
additional Ordinary 50p Shares. The notice of AGM will be
set out in Charlton's Report and Accounts, which it is
intended to be posted to shareholders on 29 December 1999.
The AGM will take place on 27 January 2000.

A further announcement will be made in due course.
