INCREASE IN GEARING

The Directors of The Fleming Claverhouse Investment Trust plc announce that the
Company has today entered into a #15 million 10 year floating rate bank loan
with Robert Fleming & Co. Ltd.  The Company has also entered into an interest
rate swap fixing the interest at 7.59% for five years.

The new loan has increased the Company's gearing from 110% to 115%.

The extra funds will be used for investment in line with the Company's current
investment policy.
