NIGEL POULTNEY APPOINTED GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR
                      
Following  the recent disposal of Yewlands Engineering  Co  Ltd
("Yewlands"), Mr Stephen Eldred, who was Managing  Director  of
Yewlands as well as Finance Director of Quadrant, resigned from
the  Board  on  21  August  1997.  He  will  be  taking  up  an
appointment in the US.

Mr  Nigel  Poultney, the Company Secretary and Group  Financial
Controller, has today been appointed Group Finance Director.

Lord Rees, the Chairman of Quadrant, said:

"I  would  like to thank Stephen for the excellent contribution
that  he has made during a difficult time for the Group  and  I
wish him well for the future.

"We   are  particularly  fortunate  that  Nigel  Poultney,  who
qualified  as  a chartered accountant with Deloitte  Haskins  &
Sells  in  1981, will take over Stephen's role whilst remaining
Company Secretary."
