S&P Dow Jones Indices said Kraft Foods Group (KRFTV) will
replace Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (ANR) in the S&P 500 after
Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT) completes its split into two companies.
Kraft Foods is renaming its snacks business Mondelez
International Inc. and spinning off its North American grocery
business on Oct. 1.
Alpha Natural Resources will replace Korn/Ferry International
(KFY) in the S&P MidCap 400 index, and Korn/Ferry will replace
Pulse Electronics Corp. (PULS) in the S&P SmallCap 600. Alpha
Natural and Korn/Ferry have market capitalizations that are more
representative of the mid-cap and small-cap market spaces,
respectively, said S&P Dow Jones Indices.
Alpha Natural, which is the worst-performing stock in the
S&P 500 so far this year, saw its shares drop 2.6% to $6.37
after hours. The stock has fallen 68% since the start of the
year.
