Developers Diversified Realty (NYSE: DDR), the leading owner, manager and developer of market-dominant shopping centers, today announced that Macy's has begun construction of a new 103,000 square foot department store at Nampa Gateway Center in Nampa, Idaho.

"It's an exciting step forward for both Nampa Gateway Center and Macy's," said Paul W. Freddo, senior executive vice president of leasing and development for Developers Diversified. "We look forward to the department store's opening later this year."

Macy's Nampa location will be one-level and designed specifically for an open-air center. It will include a "main street" entrance configuration, and an emphasis on natural lighting via skylights and exterior windows. The department store will feature a full range of apparel and accessories for men, women and children, as well as merchandise for the home.

Nampa Gateway Center now boasts two department store anchors, Macy's and JCPenney -- which is open and operating. The two destination retailers will be connected by a drivable street, which will be lined with specialty shops. Sports Authority is scheduled to open late summer 2009, along with Idaho Athletic Club, an upscale fitness center.

A selection of national and regional specialty shops and a dozen restaurants will occupy outparcels on the 104-acre site.
