BGE Employees Organize Nearly 30 Community Service Projects to Celebrate National Volunteer Week

than 1,800 volunteer hours focused on environment, education and
community enrichment

Employees from across Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE)
are celebrating National Volunteer Week (April 12-18) by
participating in nearly 30 employee-led service projects throughout
central Maryland and the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metro area.
These projects include cleaning up parks and other public spaces,
planting trees, maintaining the Chesapeake Bay Oyster Gardens,
serving meals to people struggling with poverty and helping rebuild
homes.

empowering our employees to volunteer with organizations that have
a positive impact on the communities in which BGE serves,” said

- April 13 (Baltimore) – Bowl
painting for annual fundraiser at St. Vincent de Paul
- April 14 (Baltimore) – Meal
preparations for Meals on Wheels
- April 15 (Baltimore) – Kitchen
assistance and meal preparation for Moveable Feast
- April 16 (Baltimore) – Moving
storage and exhibits at the Museum of Industry
- April 16 (Baltimore) – Garden
revitalization for The League for People with Disabilities
National Volunteer Week is an annual, nationwide celebration of
people working to improve their communities through volunteer
service. Each year, BGE employees organize community service
projects for the company’s 3,200 employees, family members and
friends to participate in throughout April.
BGE and its parent company Exelon recognize National Volunteer
Week by empowering employee volunteers to design their service
projects and recruit others to participate. This year, employees
across Exelon will participate in more than 150 community service
projects in April. Projects will focus on education, environmental
stewardship, diversity and inclusion, and community enrichment.
In addition to BGE, National Volunteer Week will include
employee-led service projects from across the Exelon family of
companies including: ComEd in Illinois, PECO in Philadelphia,
Constellation in Maryland, and Exelon Generation and Exelon
Business Services Company in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and
Texas.
Since its founding nearly 200 years ago, BGE has played an
integral role in working with Maryland communities to address
economic development, public safety, civic issues and other
initiatives that help enhance our neighborhoods. Through the use of
shareholder dollars, BGE supports programs that deliver measurable
and sustainable impact in areas of education, the environment,
