electronic payment processing service as it offers North Carolina
residents convenient online and telephone property tax payment
options for the January 7 tax deadline. Each year since 2000, more
North Carolina taxpayers have chosen to pay their taxes
electronically through Official Payments. North Carolina
individuals and businesses may pay their property taxes online or
by telephone with American Express�, Discover �, MasterCard� and
VISA� cards at http://www.officialpayments.com or by calling
1-800-2PAY-TAX(SM) (1-800-272-9829) or the number printed on their
tax bill. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a
week in English and in Spanish. Taxpayers from 91 counties, cities,
or towns in North Carolina can pay their taxes, utility bills,
permits, fees and other municipal obligations through Official
Payments. Across much of North Carolina, property tax bills were
mailed to residents in the summer of 2007, and may be paid without
interest or penalties through January 7, 2008. Taxpayers with
questions about their tax bills should call their local tax office.
Taxpayers requiring help to pay electronically can call Official
Payments� dedicated Customer Service line at 1-800-487-4567, option
�1� for English, �2� for Spanish, and then press option �4� for
payment processing assistance. North Carolina constituents can also
register for a free service using OPC�s MyAccount feature at
http://www.officialpayments.com/myaccount. My Account allows users
to manage automatic payments, payment reminders, make payments
using pre-filled contact information, view online transaction
history, modify the details of a personal profile, and offer
