Union Bank of California Executive Vice President Johs Worsoe has been appointed head of the bank�s institutional services and asset management business lines and has been added to the bank�s Executive Management Committee, which consists of the bank�s policy-making officers. Worsoe�s current responsibilities include overseeing the global markets foreign exchange, global markets derivatives, UnionBanc investment services, IRA solutions and UnionBanc insurance services, the parent organization for the bank�s insurance agencies. With the retirement of Executive Vice President Piet Westerbeek as head of institutional services and asset management, Worsoe is now responsible for the majority of the bank�s non-interest income, fee-generating businesses. Westerbeek, who has been with the bank some 34 years, is assisting with the transition. Prior to joining Union Bank of California in 2001, Worsoe spent six years at Imperial Bank in Los Angeles where he served as senior vice president and managing director of international financial services division. Before his tenure there, he managed the foreign exchange activities for National Bank of Long Beach, a subsidiary of a major Scandinavian bank. Worsoe also served as chief investment officer for Eurocom Investments, a financial services company dedicated to serving Scandinavian high net worth clients living in Spain and Great Britain. From 1985 to 1991, Worsoe worked in various positions, including the foreign exchange department, for Vejle, Denmark-based Aktivbanken A/S. A native of Denmark, Worsoe holds an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and a B.A. degree from the University of Phoenix. He also holds a diploma from the Danish Banking School. In addition to his duties at Union Bank of California, Worsoe volunteers in the USC undergraduate mentor program, and is the treasurer of the Danish American Chamber of Commerce. He is also on the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hollywood. Worsoe speaks five languages fluently: Danish, English, German, French and Spanish.
