PG&E Statement Regarding Rancho Cordova Accident

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Gas and
Electric Company (PG&E) today released the following statement
regarding the event that occurred Wednesday, December 24 in Rancho
Cordova, a suburb of Sacramento, Calif.: "PG&E is greatly
saddened by the tragic loss of life and injuries caused by
yesterday's explosion," said Jack Keenan, PG&E Senior Vice
President and Chief Operating Officer. "We extend our deepest
sympathies to the people impacted by this terrible event and offer
prayers for those who are still hospitalized with serious injuries.
While the cause is under investigation, we will do what is right
for customers and employees affected by this accident, and we will
continue to cooperate fully with public safety officials and
investigators. We are committed to understanding the cause of the
accident, and as part of that process we expect to begin excavating
the site Monday, December 29. At that time, representatives from
the California Public Utilities Commission and the National
Transportation Safety Board will join in that investigation. For
now, our priority remains ensuring the well-being of those touched
