PR Newswire (US)
OMAHA, Neb., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Across the nation
Labor Day has traditionally marked the end of the summer season.
Children celebrate the holiday with a day off from school, adults
have a day off from work and parades fill city streets across the
country. As the last stretch of summer nears and outside activity
remains prevalent, Union Pacific stresses safety over the holiday
weekend, urging motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution when
traveling across or near railroad tracks and grade crossings. It is
important to not only teach railroad safety in the home, but to
continually reinforce it as well. Always remind children of the
dangers of oncoming trains. Whether traveling in a vehicle or
enjoying the final days of summer with a stroll, be aware of your
surroundings and travel only on designated roads and walkways.
Please use the following guidelines to keep your family safe this
holiday weekend: * Never walk along tracks and only cross tracks at
designated pedestrian roadway crossings when on foot. Observe and
obey all warning signs and signals. * At a multiple track crossing
waiting for a train to pass, watch out for a second train on the
other tracks, approaching from either direction. * Flashing red
lights signal that a train is approaching from either direction.
You can be fined for failure to obey these signals. Never drive or
walk around lowered gates at a crossing, and do not cross the
tracks until the lights have stopped flashing and it is safe to do
so. Jobs at Union Pacific Currently, Union Pacific has job openings
