Dow Jones News
Pierre-Andre de Chalendar, chief executive of French
construction material maker Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA (SGO.FR),
will replace French businessman Claude Bebear as board member of
France's largest bank by market capitalization BNP Paribas SA
(BNP.FR), financial news website Wansquare reported Monday.
Claude Bebear, 77, will retire from the BNP Paribas' board in a
few days, Wansquare said, without citing any source. The board
position was first offered to the CEO of France's largest insurer
AXA SA (CS.FR), Henri de Castries, who rejected it, Wansquare
reported.
Bebear remains on the boards of Vivendi SA (VIV.FR) and
Schneider Electric (SU.FR), Wansquare, which belongs to Le Figaro
newspaper, added.
Officials at BNP Paribas weren't immediately available for
comment.
