             Trading Update and Appointment of New Chief Executive

Chromogenex plc, the UK's leading manufacturer of cosmetic and medical laser and
light based systems, is pleased to announce a positive trading update and
appointment of Allan Charles Branch (57) as its new CEO effective from today. He
replaces Peter McGuinness, who remains on the Board as non-executive Chairman.

Trading Update

The Company has achieved a significant improvement in sales and profitability
following a slow first half. This improvement in sales and profitability follows
a change in management and will bring our annual earnings in line with market
expectations. In its interim report the Board announced a modest half year
profit of �10k. As predicted in our interim statement, the Company has achieved
record fourth quarter sales and profits. The Board is particularly pleased with
the improvement in UK sales which are resulting in enhanced gross margins for
the Company.

Appointment of New Chief Executive

Previously CEO of Lighthouse Technologies (Australia, USA, UK), Branch is one of
the world's leading authorities in technology commercialisation. He has a wealth
of international top management experience and is the founder of a number of
international companies including Denning Branch International, Aero
Electronics, Minex and Flexible Systems.

From 1979 until 1997 Allan Branch was a leading figure in the global intelligent
mobile robotics industry - both technologically and commercially. He became an
industry spokesperson, and keynote presenter at international conferences and
advises governments and institutions on strategy, structure, competitiveness and
corporate ethics. Since 1998 he has specialised in assisting other companies to
roll-out or expand their operations and accelerate commercialisation.

Allan Branch's senior management experience covers private, listed, non-profit
and government organisations, and ranges from hi-tech to no-tech sectors. He has
been responsible for taking pre-revenue operations to billion dollar companies
employing in excess of 1,000 staff. During his forty-plus years in the business,
Allan Branch has lived and worked in Asia, Europe, Australia and North America
and is a member of many professional and industry bodies.

Peter McGuinness, Chairman, commented: 'As we enter an important growth phase in
