New Chairman for Centrica

Centrica plc today announced that Sir Michael Perry CBE,
currently Deputy Chairman, had been appointed Non-Executive
Chairman of the Company.

In accordance with the information set out in the Listing
Particulars, at the time of Centrica's demerger from British Gas
plc, Richard Giordano KBE, retires both as Chairman and as a
Non-Executive Director of Centrica plc with effect from today.

Sir Michael, 63, was a Non-Executive Director of British Gas plc
from June 1994 until the demerger in February 1997.
