Appointment of new Director - Supplementary Details

On 1st October 1998 the appointment of Graham Thomas as Non Executive Director
was announced.

The Board of Solid State Supplies PLC are pleased to announce the following
supplementary details.

Graham Douglas Thomas has been a director of Corporate Marketing Services Ltd
since October 1996 and of Gifted Messages Ltd, a promotional gift distributor,
and The Screwbee Factory Ltd, creator of children's character favourites, since
March 1998.

In the last five years, Mr Thomas has been a director of Trifast PLC, TR
Fastenings Ltd and Computer Research Ltd.

In 1988, Fastener Techniques Ltd, a company then owned by Mr Thomas, acquired
control of Component Techniques Ltd.  This latter company was in severe
financial difficulties and was acquired with a view to re-equipping the plant
and restructuring the management.  Despite substantial investment in money and
management time, the company continued to make losses and in 1990 the board of
Fastener Techniques decided to cease financial assistance and place Component
Techniques into receivership.  The only creditors were Fastener Techniques Ltd
and National Westminster Bank.
