SPORTSCARD BECOMES PREMIER RUGBY'S OFFICIAL CREDIT CARD
- Partnership with Premier Rugby, the marketing and
commercial arm of English First Division Rugby
representing the top 12 English Rugby union clubs.
- Sportscard given access to 250,000 rugby union
enthusiasts
- Marketing agreement with Richmond Rugby Club
- Tickets to Rugby Union internationals secured for
Sportscard holders
Sportscard Group plc ("the Company" or "Sportscard"), the
rewards-based credit card company, announces that it has
signed a 3 year partnership agreement with Premier Rugby,
the marketing and commercial arm of English First
Division Rugby representing the 12 English Rugby union
clubs that play in The Zurich Premiership.
As well as becoming the official credit card of Premier
Rugby, Sportscard will have access to each Premiership
rugby club's members and supporters throughout the
season, offering a branded card for each of the
participating clubs. This will provide the Company with
an additional dedicated database of up to 250,000 sports
enthusiasts.
The Company also announces that it has signed a marketing
agreement with Richmond Rugby Football Club ("Richmond"
or "the Club"), who will provide Sportscard with access
to their members and suppliers. The Club's members will
have the opportunity to acquire an exclusive Richmond
Rugby Club Sportscard.
As part of the agreement with Richmond, Sportscard
holders will have direct access to a significant number
of tickets for all rugby international and other top
matches at Twickenham: some of the 'hardest to find'
tickets in the sporting world.
The two deals represent a vital component in Sportscard's
core offering to its credit-card holders: that of being
able to exchange their accumulated Sports Points for
"hard to find" sports tickets; thereby acquiring new
cardholders through top class sport.
David Banford, Chief Executive, Sportscard Group plc,
said:
"As we stated at the time of our IPO, working with other
sporting organisations is a vital part of Sportscard's
strategy. Today's announcement will enable us to target
the sports enthusiast and thereby continue to achieve
response rates to our marketing campaigns substantially
above industry averages.
"We are delighted to be working with these two
prestigious sporting organisations and to be able to
offer our existing and potential card holders an even
greater range of hard to find tickets."
Simon Hoskins, Marketing Manager, Premier Rugby said:
"The deal with Sportscard is an excellent opportunity for
all participating Premier Rugby clubs to generate
considerable income and for their fans to play an
important part in the future development of their club."
