SPORTSCARD GROUP TEES UP WITH GOLF NETWORK
TO TARGET GOLF ENTHUSIASTS
* Three year marketing partnership signed with Golf
Network Ltd, the specialist UK golf marketing company.
* Opportunity for Sportscard to market a co-branded
credit card to 750,000 golfing enthusiasts before the
end of 2002.
* Sportscard cardholders to receive 2 for 1 green fees at
over 500 UK golf courses.
Ahead of this week's US Masters golf tournament,
Sportscard Group plc ("the Company" or "Sportscard"), the
UK rewards-based credit card company, announces that it
has signed a three year partnership agreement with Golf
Network Ltd ("Golf Network"). The deal will see
Sportscard gain access to a significant number of
potential new cardholders, as well as enabling it to
provide exciting new benefits to cardholders.
Sportscard will market its credit card to the Golf
Network's database of members, currently a total of
412,000 golfing enthusiasts but expected to reach 750,000
by the end of next year. The Company, whose endorsed
marketing campaigns have previously enjoyed success rates
over double the industry average, sees the deal as
another significant step towards achieving its goal of
having 500,000 active cardholders over the next five
years.
As part of the agreement, Sportscard will also have the
opportunity to market their unique rewards-based credit
card proposition via Golf Network's magazine and
promotional material. This will include special golf
events throughout the UK. The two companies have agreed
to market a unique national programme allowing Sportscard
holders to receive 'two for the price of one' green fees
at over 500 golf courses across the UK.
A further benefit to Sportscard holders will be access to
free tickets for a number of leading golf tournaments and
functions, including the Ryder Cup and Victor Chandler
British Masters. Sportscard cardholders will be able to
exchange their "Sports Points", earned when spending on
their card, for these exclusive tickets. Sportscard also
offers its cardholders "hard to find" tickets to a
variety of other high profile sporting events including,
rugby internationals at Twickenham, Premier League
football matches and Wimbledon Tennis. Cardholders can
also use their "Sports Points" to pay for any UK sports
club membership fees and in-club expenses, sports
merchandise and overseas tours packages to sports events
including the US Masters golf tournament.
Sportscard, which is partnered by Capital One Bank, the
sixth largest credit card operator in the US, receive
revenue from new card subscriptions and a proportion of
both the amount spent on the card and net interest paid
by cardholders. The agreement with Capital One also
provides Sportscard with increasing royalty levels as the
number of accounts grow.
