LONDON--Electricity and gas company SSE PLC (SSE.LN) will sell
its Hampshire data centre to independent IT group SCC, for 12
million pounds ($19.7 million), subject to capital adjustment and
provision of transition services for a period of three months.
The facility was operated by SSE Enterprise Telecoms, which owns
and operates a U.K.-wide fibre optic network.
Gregor Alexander, Finance Director of SSE said "SSE PLC is
continuing its business simplification program, which will secure
proceeds and debt reduction estimated to total around GBP1 billion
and ensure SSE PLC's resources are fully focused on its core
purpose of providing the energy people need in a reliable and
sustainable way."
SSE shares at 0935 GMT traded down 5 pence, or 0.3%, at
GBP15.42, valuing the company at GBP15.22 billion.
