Following news that New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer has won the Democratic nomination for Governor of the State of Delaware, Citizens for a New Delaware Way (CNDW) PAC has released the following statement from Phil Shawe:

“It’s a new day in Delaware and the future could not be brighter for the people of this state.

“As the results of today’s election made clear, Delawareans are ready and eager for positive change. The nomination of New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer as the Democratic nominee for governor is an exciting and historic victory. The people of Delaware have spoken at the ballot box—and they have voted to reform the old “Delaware Way” of backroom deals that favor a cadre of wealthy elites, and usher in a new era of good government that values equality, accountability, and transparency.

“For too long, Delaware has been led by an establishment that is not only rife with corruption and favor trading, but completely lacking in forward-looking vision. But that changes today. Today, Delawareans let the world know they saw Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long’s way of doing business for what it is—a relic of the past.

“When we launched this PAC just a few months ago, we pledged to advocate for new leadership and reforms that will restore Delaware’s business edge, rebuild public trust in government institutions, and lift up the middle class and marginalized communities.
