The British Land Company PLC announces that it received notification on 2nd
September 2003 that Lord Burns, a Director of the Company,  receives 57 ordinary
shares of 25p in the company on 8th September 2003, at a price of 502.938p each,
in consequence of a standing election to participate in the Company's Dividend
Re-investment Plan, whereby cash dividends are automatically reinvested in the
Company's shares.
