NURNBERG, Germany, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Embedded World,
Hall 11, Booth 107 -- Eurotech, a leading supplier of
embedded technologies, products and systems, announces today they
will demonstrate a complete wireless gateway solution based on
Intel's hardware and software development kit that allows for
machine-to-machine (M2M) devices, applications and services to get
to market quicker. The demo will show a live development
environment based on the Intel® Atom™ processor M2M
reference platform with a software development kit from Wind River
and Eurotech.

"Embedded systems now encompass a broad range of technical
expertise beyond the capabilities of a single customer or service
provider," said Arlen Nipper, CTO
for Eurotech North America. "With the Intel® Atom-based M2M
gateway reference platform, customers can start adding their
business logic on the first day of the product development cycle.
Eurotech and Wind River took a complete modular design approach to
the software stack for Intel's M2M smart services development kit,
which can significantly shorten hardware and software development
for customers."
Based on Intel® Atom™ processor technology, Wind River Linux,
and Eurotech Everyware Software Framework, this new class of
hardware incorporates the density of a complete appliance with the
flexibility of an embedded industrial computer to enable mission
critical applications. The Intel Atom-based M2M gateway reference
platform demonstrates the disruptive notion of providing dense,
flexible hardware platforms that reside on the "edges" of the
network.
"Service innovators desire to create and quickly implement
revenue-generating solutions for their specific applications. The
Intel® Atom™ processor-based M2M gateway reference platform with
Wind River Linux and Eurotech Everyware Software Framework enables
developers to deploy new services quicker, easier and more cost
efficiently," said Kevin D. Johnson,
director of Embedded Connected Devices, Embedded and Communications
Group, Intel Corporation.
According to Chris Rezendes, EVP
at VDC Research, "When we surveyed the market around the scalable
edge node (SEN) space, which includes equipment such as the Intel
M2M reference platform, we found that the largest anticipated
challenge for adopters to migrate to SEN and cloud-ready platforms
is to select the right software framework for their specific
implementation. Eurotech's Everyware Software Framework running on
Wind River Linux in this smart services development kit offers one
option to ease that transition."
