Ask Jeeves Announces Expanded Syndication Network OAKLAND, Calif.,
June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ask Jeeves, Inc., a leading
provider of information retrieval technologies, brands and Internet
advertising services, today announced two new syndication partners:
Clear Channel Online Music & Radio, the online division of
Clear Channel Radio and the operator of approximately 1200 radio
stations across the United States, and The Motley Fool, a leading
financial services and media company. These new partners, combined
with Ask Jeeves(R) existing syndication partners, make Ask Jeeves
one of the largest search and advertising networks on the Internet,
reaching nearly one-quarter (25%) of the total online population,
according to Nielson/Net Ratings (May 2005). "Most Internet-based
businesses today realize that search has become a requisite website
function, and that search and contextual advertising can be
effective means of monetization," said Andrew Moers, Ask Jeeves'
vice president of business development, specializing in search and
advertising syndication. "Ask Jeeves' unique syndication solutions
enable websites to greatly enhance user experience and generate a
significant revenue stream, all with little start-up or maintenance
cost." The Ask Jeeves syndication network is comprised of a number
of partners including CNET Networks, InfoSpace, Lycos, Tickle, and
Virgin Radio UK. All of the partners utilize one or more of the
following customized syndication solutions: Search Syndication. Ask
Jeeves' proprietary search technology takes a unique approach to
ranking search results. Like other search engines, Teoma utilizes a
form of link popularity to assist in a page's relevancy ranking,
but goes a step further by also analyzing each web page's authority
on a topic. Teoma is the only web search technology that gives
added credibility to those sites respected as authorities on a
particular subject. Ask Jeeves also offers site-specific search, as
well as a range of vertical search solutions such as image search
and news search. Finally, Ask Jeeves search syndication can include
user-friendly features such as Zoom, which helps users refine their
search queries, and Smart Search, which helps users find what they
are looking for more efficiently. Advertising Syndication. Ask
Jeeves' advertising syndication is based on a unique blend of
keyword-targeted and contextual text and graphical advertising
units, resulting in a web site that includes extremely relevant and
functional advertising units. It is a proven method of monetizing
site traffic, in which revenue is generated from both clicks and
impressions. Portal Syndication. Ask Jeeves' consumer portal
solution provides partners with an Ask Jeeves-hosted portal,
including search, web mail and content syndication from leading
providers. The Ask Jeeves portal consultants develop a turnkey
portal offering, which allows partners to improve the user
experience while simultaneously reducing cost and opening up
enhanced revenue opportunities. Consumer Software Syndication. Ask
Jeeves also develops and manages customized search software for its
partners. The Ask Jeeves search toolbar offers partners the ability
to integrate their own brand and functionality into a search
toolbar, and maintain a persistent presence on the desktop of their
users. "In addition to our 'out-of-the-box' syndication solutions,
the Ask Jeeves team works with partners on customized solutions
tailored to the partner's specific needs and market opportunity,"
added Tim Ogilvie, vice president of business development,
specializing in portal and software applications. "Customized
solutions enable us to design an offering that is tailored
specifically for their target market, making the search and online
experience more relevant and useful for their particular audience."
