BAE Systems Purchases Cardiac Science AEDs and Training for Its
U.S. Facilities IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Cardiac Science, Inc. (NASDAQ:DFIB), a leading manufacturer of
life-saving automatic public-access defibrillators (AEDs), today
announced that Rockville, MD-based BAE Systems, one of America's
foremost national security, aerospace and information systems
companies, has purchased Powerheart(R) G3 AEDs for 37 of its
facilities nationwide. In addition, BAE Systems has procured the
associated AED/CPR training and program management for
approximately 500 of its employees. BAE Systems Technology
Solutions, a sector of BAE Systems North America, plans to outfit
administrative, research and industrial locations with the devices,
protecting more than 6,000 employees within their U.S. operations.
Robert Murphy, president, BAE Systems Technology Solutions, said
that the decision to deploy AEDs and train personnel makes perfect
sense when you balance the minimal cost against the protection they
provide. "We recognized the immeasurable value of installing
defibrillators first hand this year when one of our colleagues was
saved in a facility that happened to have an AED available and
where coworkers had been trained in its use," said Murphy. "Our
employees are our most valued asset and we intend to do everything
we can to protect them in the workplace. Easily accessible
defibrillators, such as the Powerheart G3, have been shown to
dramatically increase cardiac arrest survival rates and we believe
that this fact alone justifies our investment many times over."
Raymond W. Cohen, Chairman and CEO of Cardiac Science, commented on
the partnership by stating, "Company-wide deployments are becoming
more commonplace as AED protection becomes part of the mindset in
corporate settings both in the U.S. and abroad. It is rewarding to
see more and more executives at top organizations making this
commitment to employee safety and corporate risk management." About
