Overseas markets are mixed this morning as all the European markets
that we track are positive, however all the Asian markets are in
negative territory. Sustained selling of Lenovo which purchased
IBM's pc business pushed the Hang Seng down 0.76%. The reliance
group put a dent in the BSE Sensex dragging down that index 77
points. The November Producer Price Index (PPI) is set to be
released at 8:30 a.m. Expectations are for an increase of 0.1
percent, well below last period's 1.7 percent. Then at 9:45 a.m.,
we have the preliminary Michigan sentiment for November expected to
come in at 93.5. The final thing to be on the lookout for is OPEC's
decision on output, as this decision will probably move energy
markets and in a hurry. Be prepared for the investing week ahead

OPPORTUNITIES High oil prices. Rising inflation in key areas like
energy. The state of the US job market. All important issues, of
course. But what investors don't hear mentioned too often is how
these issues impact the financial prospects at America's companies.
Besides occasional updates regarding corporate profits, much of the
information pertains to the broader US economy. So for a look at
how some US companies see future revenue outlook in 2005, look at a
survey of 400 firms by the Institute for Supply Management. And
despite some gloomy prognostications from some mainstream financial
media, this study is pretty positive. Of the companies interviewed,
exactly half within the services sector forecast an economic
improvement over the first half of 2005, with 52% of manufacturing
firms holding the same belief. More specifically, service sector
firms see revenues increasing 6% over the same period, while
manufacturers project a healthy 8% rise. A large part of that
arguably emanates from the fact that manufacturers only see costs
rising by 4.4% this year, down from a hefty 11.2% this year.
Regarding employment, manufacturers expect to boost hiring by just
1.6% next year, while service sector companies forecast a 3.1%
hiring hike. One group who won't have as much spending power is
computer manufacturers. According to research firm IDC, global PC
shipments will slow from 14.5% growth this year to 10% in 2005. The
news comes as no surprise to those who have seen shipment growth
decline dramatically recently. For example, third quarter global PC
shipment growth, while not unimpressive at 8%, did nevertheless
tumble from 25% in Q3 2003. The IDC forecast comes a week after a
report from fellow researchers Gartner Inc. said PC sales growth
between 2006 and 2008 will average 5.7% per year. This is down
sharply from the current rate of 11.3% from 2003-2005. Receive
