Opsware Inc. (Nasdaq:OPSW), the leading provider of IT automation
and utility computing software, today announced a partnership with
nLayers, the leader in real-time discovery and resource
optimization, to provide Opsware Server Automation System (SAS)
customers with visibility into the most complex, multi-tiered
application infrastructures. Through the agreement, nLayers will
enable Opsware SAS customers to discover and map the relationships
and dependencies between applications and infrastructure components
within heterogeneous data center environments. When combined with
Opsware's leading IT automation software, nLayers InSight Managed
Services provide a foundation for the successful implementation of
critical IT initiatives such as compliance management,
consolidation and IT service management. "Our partnership with
nLayers gives Opsware customers access to best in class discovery,
enhancing their ability to achieve the full benefits of an
automated IT environment," said Dr. Tim Howes, CTO of Opsware Inc.
"Together, Opsware and nLayers provide enterprises with the most
rapid path to web application deployment and optimization so they
can reap the rewards of greater operational efficiencies and cost
savings." nLayers InSight Managed Services, a packaged discovery
services offering, creates an Application Behavioral Model of the
data center environment, which includes the relationships and
dependencies between the physical and logical components, as well
as their interactions, behavior, demand and usage throughout the
process. When used in conjunction with Opsware automation software,
customers benefit from a deep analysis of the impact of changes on
service availability and performance, and superior compliance
management based on an end-to-end understanding of application
environments. "Data center automation and utility computing hold
great promise for IT organizations in terms of increased
efficiency, cost management and overall agility," said Gili Raanan,
founder and CEO of nLayers. "Unfortunately, automating IT
management is no small project. nLayers provides a rapidly
achievable milestone for many automation and business-IT-alignment
initiatives. We are very excited to work with vendors such as
Opsware who are helping enterprises tackle the challenges involved
in managing today's demanding IT infrastructures." About nLayers
nLayers' flagship product is nLayers InSight, an agentless
appliance that automatically discovers and maps the relationships
and dependencies between applications and infrastructure components
to provide a "living" model of the IT environment. Unlike the
limited, "snapshot" views offered by other discovery technologies,
nLayers' time-based, three-dimensional model allows IT
organizations to continuously track resource dependencies, demand,
usage and service levels in real-time. For nLayers' customers, this
model serves as the foundation for a wide range of critical IT
initiatives, including change and configuration management, IT
governance, capacity planning, business service management, and
business continuity planning. nLayers is a privately held,
venture-funded startup headquartered in San Jose, California, and
at www.nlayers.com. About Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW) Opsware Inc.
