SAN JOSE, Calif., June 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sanmina
Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM) and Pluribus Networks today announced
they have signed an agreement for Sanmina to manufacture the next
generation of the Pluribus Freedom F-Series high-performance
network computing appliances. This agreement is based on
Sanmina's successful design of the F-Series product for Pluribus.
Sanmina is a leading provider of integrated manufacturing solutions
making some of the world's most complex and innovative optical,
electronic and mechanical products. Pluribus Networks is an
innovator in the hyperconvergence space that delivers server
economics to networking for both cloud operators and
enterprises.
The Pluribus Freedom F-Series includes the award-winning
Netvisor™ software platform, a network hypervisor that delivers
control and visibility by automating the network just like a
server, enabling a rich set of in-network fabric, analytics and
virtualization services. The Freedom product line bridges the
DevOps-NetOps gap by extending virtualization to the network and
has been deployed in more than 20 countries in some of the
most demanding content delivery, financial trading and
enterprise messaging networks.
"Sanmina provided the critical expertise we needed in high-speed
printed circuit board (PCB) technology and system design that
helped make the Freedom F-Series a reality," said Kumar Srikantan, president and chief executive
officer of Pluribus Networks. "Their ability to design and
prototype the product here in Silicon Valley meant we could work
closely with them every step of the way. Pluribus is now
leveraging Sanmina's global footprint to transfer production to a
lower-cost region. By being local and global, Sanmina allowed us to
bring our products to market quickly and cost-effectively."
"Sanmina is proud to contribute to the design and technology
development of this advanced network platform. Bringing the
F-Series to market involved significant advancements in PCB process
and technology development to meet the performance requirements of
the system," said Dr. Sundar Kamath,
senior vice president of corporate technology at Sanmina. "Working
closely together, the first Freedom F-Series products were brought
to market in record time. We look forward to collaborating with
them on their next generation of products."
Sanmina has been providing innovative technology solutions to
leading network infrastructure and telecommunications companies for
more than 30 years. These technologies include advanced optical and
RF transceivers, PCBs, high-speed backplanes and enclosures.
Sanmina's gateway facilities provide end-to-end solutions
including PCB and system design, fabrication, quick turn
prototyping, product introduction, systems assembly and global
order fulfillment. Sanmina's engineers work with customers to
design, test and validate products resulting in faster time to
market and more robust products. Customers benefit from having
Sanmina facilities nearby for engineering and product launch, along
with a complete global footprint for manufacturing and
logistics.
