Cargill Inc. is nearing a deal to buy the cocoa business of Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM), Reuters reported Wednesday on its website, citing people familiar with the situation.

An announcement of a deal could come in days, the people said.

In a statement to Reuters on Tuesday, a Cargill official said the company "will communicate as and when there is anything definitive." An ADM official declined comment to Reuters.
