LONDON--Russian gas monopoly Gazprom OAO (GAZP.RS) and China
Guodian Corp., one of China's largest state-owned utilities, are
interested in purchasing U.K. power stations, The Sunday Times
reports without citing sources.
Gazprom plans to launch a bid for EDF Energy's Sutton Bridge
power plant in Lincolnshire, England, the newspaper reports. It
added that EDF Energy, a unit of Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR),
has hired Rothschild to run the auction.
China Guodian Corp. has hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) to
bid for General Electric Co.'s (GE) Baglan Bay power plant in South
Wales.
Gazprom, General Electric and EDF weren't immediately available
for comment.
