Caixa Economica Federal in Brazil Approves 90-Day Contract Extension with GTECH

Holdings Corporation (NYSE:GTK) today announced that its
wholly-owned subsidiary, GTECH Brazil Ltda., was notified by Caixa
Economica Federal, the administrator of the National Lottery in
Brazil, that it has approved a 90-day contract extension. Under the
terms of the contract extension, which commenced upon termination
of the Caixa contract on May 14, 2006, GTECH will continue to
operate the existing lottery and financial transaction processing
systems for Caixa. The contract extension retains all of GTECH's
service offerings, and the fixed and variable fee structure,
