TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2014) - Martinrea
International Inc. (TSX:MRE) a leader in the production of quality
metal parts, assemblies and modules and fluid management systems
focused primarily on the automotive sector, announced today the
results of the election of directors at its annual general and
special meeting, including the election of a new director, Sandra
Pupatello.
Rob Wildeboer, the Company's Executive Chairman stated: "We
would like to thank our shareholders for their overwhelming show of
support. I believe that the voter turnout number and the votes cast
for our directors has perhaps never been this high. Incidentally,
we appreciate the support of the many shareholders who voted early;
before the proposed dissident slate was withdrawn, approximately
half of all shares outstanding had been voted with over 99% voting
in favour of the Company's nominees. As a board, we will continue
to do our best for the Company and our shareholders."
Martinrea's shareholders elected Sandra Pupatello as a new
director to the Board. Ms. Pupatello is currently the Chair of
Hydro One, the Province of Ontario's crown corporation responsible
for electrical transmission, which is Canada's largest transmission
company. Ms. Pupatello brings to the Board a deep knowledge of the
political sector and has been involved in the automotive industry,
as a regulator, an investor of public funds and an advocate for
many years. She has worked with every leading automotive and
automotive parts company in the Province of Ontario and has
encouraged and negotiated investments by GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda
and Toyota, all customers of the Company.
Martinrea held an annual general and special meeting on June 19,
2014. A total of 65,404, 927 Common Shares, or 77.41% of the issued
and outstanding Common Shares, were voted at the meeting.
Shareholders voted in favour of all items of business, including
the election of each director nominee by a substantial majority as
