VANCOUVER,
Nov. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - Kombat
Copper Inc. (the "Company") (TSX.V: KBT) is pleased to provide
an update on the progress of the exploration activities at its
Namibian copper projects
Kombat
Diamond
Drilling and Re-sampling
As announced October 18,
2012, the Company has commenced phase one of its diamond
drilling program at the Kombat copper project. Five (5) holes
totaling 858.72 metres have been completed and two holes are
currently underway. Upon completion of these initial seven
holes, the drills will be moved to begin drilling some of the
deeper targets within the project. The purpose of these
initial holes is to verify the presence of mineralized zones
identified in the historical data at Kombat.
The Company has located core from 6 historical
surface holes from the Asis Far West ("AFW") extension of the
Kombat ore body. One hundred seventeen (117) samples of mineralized
sections of this core totaling 102.70 metres have been sent for
analysis to confirm original assays. With as much care as
possible every attempt was made to duplicate the original
sampling.
To date, a total of 384 core samples have been
sent to Bureau Veritas ("BV") laboratory in Swakopmund,
Namibia, an ISO 17025 certified
laboratory. Two hundred sixty-seven (267) of these samples are from
the on-going diamond drilling program and 117 are from historic AFW
surface holes as discussed above.
Historical Data
Most of the historic drilling and mining data
from Kombat was digitally captured on spreadsheets by the previous
operator and at present is being imported into the Company's GIS
software for modeling and planning purposes. Evaluation of existing
mylar and paper sections dating from the 1960's to early 2008 is
on-going to determine which will need to be scanned and
digitized.
Exclusive Prospecting Licenses
("EPL's")
Work is on-going on the Company's five EPL's. As
reported in the news release of October 18,
2012, a short 7 hole diamond drill hole was completed near
Grootfontein in a calcrete and Kalahari sand covered area with no
outcrop. No significant assays were received back from the
laboratory; however, results did confirm the presence of previously
unknown copper mineralization and plans are underway to follow up
on this new information in Q1 2013
In addition, research and planning is underway
to begin geochemical soil and rock sampling and geophysical surveys
on three of the Company's EPL's, with the intention of beginning
work in December 2012. Recently
obtained historic information has led the Company to believe that
several old prospects with elevated Cu, Pb and V values lie within
one of the EPL's and plans are underway to locate and re-sample
these areas.
Sampling and Analytical Method
All HQ and NQ core samples from the present
drilling are cut in half on site. Overall sample length is
generally one metre, but occasionally shorter or longer lengths
will be sampled without crossing lithological boundaries. Core from
the historic AFW holes was quartered on site. Following
standard practices, Company geologists insert a standard and blank
in every batch of twenty samples.
The laboratory protocol involves a
grinding/pulverizing stage that ensures 85% of the material will
pass through a 75 micron sieve. Following this, a 0.15 gram sample
is subjected to mixed acid (total) digestion and then analysed for
Cu, Pb, Zn and Ag along with 24 other elements by a combination of
ICP-MS and OES-MS. The laboratory inserts internal standards
and blanks along with duplicates with a blank at the beginning of a
run and thereafter every 90 samples to ensure 1 to 2 internal
standards and 1 to 2 duplicates every 30 samples.
Upon completion of the phase one drilling
program, a minimum of 5% of the pulps will be randomly chosen and
sent to another laboratory for re-analysis. Results will be
checked to ensure data falls within control limits.
Qualified Person
Mr. Colin
Russell, P.Geo., the Qualified Person as defined by National
Instrument 43-101, is responsible for the design of the program,
and all exploration work on the Kombat Project will be done under
his supervision. Mr. Russell has read and approved the technical
content of this news release.
About Kombat Copper Inc.
Kombat Copper Inc. is a public Canadian
exploration and development company focused on the acquisition of
copper assets in southwestern Africa. The Company recently acquired the
Kombat Copper Project which consists of a past producing mine, mill
and concentrator historically capable of processing 1,000 tonnes of
ore per day. The project has more than 100 years of production
history and is located in the Otavi Mountainland of northern
Namibia, a region known for copper
production from numerous high grade deposits. In addition to these
historically producing assets, the Company has acquired five EPL's
in close proximity to the mill and concentrator and near the town
of Tsumeb. These highly prospective EPL's cover an area of more
than 2,250 square kilometres. The Kombat Copper management team and
founders have a considerable amount of experience in Namibia and internationally, and combines
managerial, financial and technical expertise used to generate
value for project stakeholders.
